Running Back = A-
We started this season talking about what a deep group this was and top to bottom the most talented it has ever been at UC. UC then proceeded to lose Charles McClelland for the year with an injury, a banged up Tavion Thomas was able to provide a little production in the early weeks, but has now been reduced to a redshirt candidate, and Gerrid Doaks has also been banged up and missed some time. That has left Michael Warren as the go to back for the Bearcats and despite every coach UC has faced knowing that is the case and game planning to stop him, Warren has still delivered.
It’s not so much the numbers Warren puts up, 498 yards and four touchdowns and 14 receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns so far, it’s the big time moments he has been able to provide to propel UC to a 6-1 record. You need to look no further than the UCF game when Warren took the last carry of the 3rd quarter 60+ yards to put UC in a prime position to add to the lead and all, but seal that game up.
What happens when Warren doesn’t have it or is hobbled by injury like the Tulsa game? Then a finally healthy Doaks is there to pick up the offense and find the end zone three times. It is those kind of effort games and plays that has made this the most reliable position group UC has.
