Wide Receiver = C+
This was one of the positions that was a huge question mark to me before the season, not because the wide receiver group at UC is lacking in talent, but because they are just such a young group, Rashad Medaris is the only wide receiver out of the 14 listed on the roster who is a senior. This group can be very good in the future, but to this point the youth is showing, not many have found success in getting separation on routes or putting themselves into position to make plays.
Sophomore Alec Pierce has been the lone breakout of the year giving Ridder a much needed downfield threat. Pierce has led the way thus far with 410 yards and two scores and Medaris has provided another 248 yards and two scores of his own.
The problem is outside of those two wideouts there is not another wide receiver who has eclipsed 100 yards for the season yet. Some of this has to do with the time Ridder gets in the pocket, as well as the run heavy offense and receiving ability of Deguara (tight end), but the young core of receivers have just also not found ways to insert themselves into the gameplay just yet.
