Special Teams
Special teams really only made one mistake, but it was a glaring and momentum changing mistake, Memphis leads the nation in kickoffs for touchdowns and you let them run right through the heart of the kickoff team to start the game and immediately put your freshman quarterback in a 7-0 hole. If they can limit the return yardage on punts and kicks and give the defense a chance to be aggressive then it’s a different football game.
As of right now the spread sits at 9, which feels about right. 9 points means UC needs to make a play or two and they have a shot which is exactly what it will come down to Saturday. I think Memphis will come out looking to put the game away early, but if they can take that first swing and silence the crowd then they can settle in and keep the game close enough to win in the 4th, and if you would have told me at the beginning of the year UC would have 1 quarter to go win a championship I’d have said sign me up. Protect the ball, Beat Memphis, Champions forever and Go Cats!
