So, 2019 is coming to an end and with it the conclusion of the 2010 decade. With that thought in mind I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and a stab at nailing down a list of the best UC basketball players of the decade. I will be doing this in two ways, I will go by position first listing my top 1 or 2 guys and then at the bottom I will list just the all time best five guys.
Point Guard – For me, this is one of the easier positions to rank as there has been essentially only three guys who played the position at a high level over the course of the decade. Honorable mention would be Justin Jenifer. The runner up would be Cashmere Wright. Which leaves the point guard of the decade in the hands of Troy Caupain. Caupain finished his UC career as the leader in assists with 515 while also scoring over 1,300 points, the only player in school history to reach those totals. Caupain always felt so collected on the floor and was a do everything type of guard. The years he spent leading the Bearcats were some of my favorite to watch.
Nice lists, I’d put Justin Jackson with the power forwards, but I’d roll with Ellis as my center because of defense and at times solid offense..at the point it would be a coin toss with Wright and Caupain
