UC Basketball – Current Decade Starting Five

Small Forward – This is actually a bit tricky to define due to UC big men being quite interchangeable in Cronin’s system, however for the purpose of this article who I believed to be the small forward of this era would be Jermaine Sanders, Justin Jackson, Jacob Evans, and Shaquille Thomas. The runner up of this class would be Justin Jackson, who would also win the award for just my all time favorite player of the decade to watch play basketball. His ability to do everything asked of him and fill multiple roles was always amazing and the chase down blocks were only topped by the Justin Jackson Mean Face. He was the best personality to come through the University from 2010 – present. Topping the list however, would be Jacob Evans. Evans always looked so effortless, guys like Kilpatrick, Cumberland or Caupain had to work to get to spots or beat a guy off the dribble to score, Evans was just different. Wherever he wanted to go he could, and whatever shot he wanted to get, he got. The Nevada debacle will always be remembered as such, with good reason, but if you get the chance to watch that first 30 minutes Jacob Evans was an absolute master on the pick and roll.

  1. Nice lists, I’d put Justin Jackson with the power forwards, but I’d roll with Ellis as my center because of defense and at times solid offense..at the point it would be a coin toss with Wright and Caupain
