Off night and questionable calls doom Cincinnati at No. 22 Memphis, 60-49

The Cincinnati Bearcats traveled down to Memphis, Tennessee to face the No. 22 Memphis Tigers. Cincinnati came into the game on a two game winning streak being Tulsa at home and knocking off UCF on the road, would they be able to handle Memphis on the road?

The first half started pretty rough as Memphis was able to handle Cincinnati in the paint and was able to limit their offensive production. Cincinnati shot 25.8% from the field in the first half led by Jarron Cumberland who score nine points, but Tre Scott and Chris Vogt were 2-of 13 in the first twenty minutes and it played a part of Cincinnati being down 31-20 at the half.

In the second half Cincinnati was down as much as 15 points, but battled back to take a 1 point lead. Eventually, Memphis had a 9 point lead, but a three by Keith Williams and another bucket by Jar. Cumberland pushed the lead down to 4. While down 4 points a lot of things happened to swing the game to Memphis, first Cumberland was fouled, but a no call led to a Cincinnati foul and then John Brannen getting a technical. After that play the game was pretty much over, but the refs missed a few calls and Cincinnati got three points from their bench.

Cincinnati shot 30.0% from the field, Scott and Vogt went 6-of-22 from the field. Jar. Cumberland led all scorers with 19 points. Williams was second on the team with 12 points and no others had double digits on Thursday.

Cincinnati lost 60-49 to Memphis. They are now 10-7 overall and 3-2 in the AAC, they will face ECU at home on Saturday.
