Senior guard Jarron Cumberland was honored by the American Athletic Conference for the third consecutive week in a row. He was tabbed to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for his play last week. Cumberland helped the Bearcats go 2-0 defeating SMU and No. 21 Houston at home.
The senior averaged averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 56 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from 3-point range.

University of Cincinnati’s Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS) was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the third consecutive week Monday.
The senior guard averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 56 percent (14 of 25) from the field and 54.5 percent (6 of 11) from 3-point range in a pair of Cincinnati wins last week.
Cumberland posted season highs with 28 points and nine rebounds, shooting 9 of 13 from the floor with four 3-pointers in UC’s 65-43 home win over SMU on Tuesday. He followed that performance by posting game highs of 17 points and seven assists in UC’s 64-62 comeback win over then-No. 21 Houston on Saturday.
With his effort against Houston, Cumberland moved past Louis Banks (1,644 points from 1988-91) into ninth place on UC’s career scoring list with 1,648 points.
Cumberland enters the week ranked among the AAC’s leaders in nine categories: scoring (second at 16.9), assists (second at 5.8), 3-point field goal percentage (third at .439), assist-to-turnover ratio (5th at 1.6), 3-pointers made (seventh at 2.0), minutes played (10th at 32.9), free throw percentage (tied for 13th at .741), steals (tied for 15th at 1.3) and blocks (tied for 15th an 0.8) since the start of league play.
Cumberland earned the same award from the AAC each of the previous two weeks. He was recognized after scoring a team-high 22 points, including 14 of UC’s final 16 points, in an 89-82 win at Temple (Jan. 22). A week earlier, Cumberland earned the honor after scoring a game-high 19 points in a 60-49 loss at then-No. 22 Memphis and posting 13 points and a game-best seven assists against East Carolina (Jan. 19).
