Per GoBearcats:
The American Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for women’s basketball with University of Cincinnati junior IImar’i Thomas landing on this week’s Honor Roll. Thomas helped spark the Bearcats on a 16-0 run to open the second half of play at SMU to turn a one-point halftime lead into an eventual 15-point win over the Mustangs in Dallas (73-58).
Thomas scored 19 points and added seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals to help the Bearcats to a big road win and remain in third place in the league standings. After being limited to just six points in the first two quarters, Thomas came out hot in the third as she tallied three points, three rebounds and one steal to see UC outscore SMU, 25-10, in the third and take a commanding lead into the fourth.
Her stats for the game saw her score 10+ points in a contest for the 20th time this year (in 22 games) while recording seven or more rebounds in a game for the 18th time. She also recorded multiple blocked shots for the fourth time this year and tied a season-high with her two steals, doing so for the third time this year.
All told, the weekly award is the eighth total for Thomas in 2019-20 as she has now been selected to the Honor Roll five times to go along with being named the AAC Player of the Week three times.
