Senior Appreciation: Jaevin Cumberland

Height: 6’3″

Weight: 185

Hometown: Wilmington, Oh

Saturday’s game against Temple will be the final home game in the short Bearcat career of Jaevin Cumberland. Prior to being a Bearcat, Cumberland was a standout guard for Oakland University for four seasons where he became a prolific 3-point shooter and brought his scoring average to 17.2 a game last season.

Although his time as a Bearcat has been short, he has been really fun to watch and being the cousin of Jarron Cumberland has brought a nice story to this season. Jaevin has been a much needed sharp shooting addition to the Bearcats bench this year and up to this point has scored 254 points including 11 games this season where he has registered double digit point totals. Jaevin currently sits on a 34.6% from 3 with an average of 2.1 made 3’s a game and that shooting ability will be crucial down the stretch as the Bearcats look to win a third straight AAC tournament and advance to their 10th straight NCAA tournament.

The more I watch Jaevin the more I wish we could have had him for four years instead of one, but lets make sure we appreciate, give a great send off to Jaevin come Saturday and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.
