TFON speaks with UC commit F Gabe Madsen

JS: What about UC stood out to you that made you chose them?

GM: Belief! Belief that I felt from the coaches in me and then the belief I felt in the coaches and the program.

JS: How does it feel to be able to play with your twin brother? And how excited are you to keep the momentum you guys have at UC?

GM: It was always something we talked about so for us to be able to do it and live out that goal, we’re extremely excited. We just push each other to get better and I think that’s what makes it special.

JS: What about the Cincinnati basketball team excites you the most?

GM: Just being able to play with guys who are at that same level as you. It makes you a better player and it’s just fun.

JS: Did u ever have a player you looked up to? And if so why did you look up to them?

GM: I’ve never really had a player that I’ve looked up to or watched… I just like watching basketball and I take certain moves or whatever it may be and try to implement into my game

JS: What made you want to play basketball?

GM: I’ve just grown up in a basketball family. My dad has been coaching my entire life so I’ve always been around it, but my brother and I didn’t start playing until 5th grade.

JS: Is there one part of your game you would like to approve on?

GM: I think over this summer I will improve my defensive game tremendously. Just being able to guard better players and learn from the coaches.

JS: How do you prepare for every game?

GM: Just listen to music and get focused.

JS: What are your goals in life?

GM: My end goal is to live in a van and travel the world, but I’ve got a lot of other things before that (laughs).

JS: How do you feel about the UC coaching staff and how do you feel they can make you better?

GM: I can’t speak highly enough about them. I think they can get the most out of me and my skill set which is a big part to why I chose Cincinnati. So, I am very excited!
