JS: What about Cincy jumped out to you? What was special about them?
MM: I think everyone’s ability to form relationships so quickly was the most impressive thing, the coaches and players alike. It all felt so right when we went on our official visit. I loved the city and everything it had to offer. And then you add on top of it the fact that it’s an elite basketball school and the fan base is second to none and you have something pretty special.
JS: What is like to play with your twin brother and continue this experience with him?
MM: It’s a super special opportunity to be able to play with him at the next level. I think we complement each other really well and we’ve been playing together since we started so to be able to do it for 4 more years is really exciting!
JS: What do you work on weekly before every game?
MM: Well during the season I just make sure I feel good every gameday. We make sure to get in the gym every morning, get shots up and keep the handle tight. It’s mostly just about feeling good during the season so you can go out and perform every night.
JS: What do you feel you can bring to Cincinnati and their program?
MM: I think that I can bring toughness to the program. With that comes doing whatever they need me to do whether that’s making shots, defend, distribute, or anything in between.
JS: Tell me what the game of basketball means to you?
MM: It might sound cliche, but it means everything. The things I do and the decisions I make on a daily basis are directly related to basketball and putting me in the best position possible to be successful. My goal is to do this as long as I can because it brings me so much joy and it’s something I love to do. It has also brought me places I couldn’t have gone without it and introduced me to so many people that I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet if I didn’t play basketball.
JS: How is your connection with the staff?
MM: I have relationships with all the coaches which is a big reason why I felt comfortable enough to commit on my visit. Coach (Sean) Dwyer was my lead recruiter and obviously I have a great relationship with coach (John) Brannen, but I have a connection with all of the coaches. It was very evident that they wanted to develop those relationships when we were on campus.
