#4 – 2001-02 – 31-4 Overall (14-2 CUSA)
Our first entry from a Huggins coached team, the 01-02 Bearcats were fresh off the Kenyon Martin Era and kept the program rolling in a big way. The team would be led by Steve Logan, Leonard Stokes and freshman standout Jason Maxiell. They would go on to win the regular season Conference USA title as well as the C-USA tournament. The Bearcats averaged 78 ppg and surrendered only 60 a game. Steve Logan in an all-time senior season which saw him personally average 22.0 points, 5.3 assists a game would carry the Bearcats as high as 4th in the AP poll leading to the team being the No. 1 seed in the West for the NCAA tournament. Just like the 2016 Cronin squad, this Bearcats team would meet UCLA in the second round in what was one of the wildest Bearcat tournament games I can remember. UC would fall to the Bruins 105-101 in double overtime, despite Leonard Stokes going off for 39 in the game. It was a fantastic season, but one that once again saw an all time great UC team fall in the second round.
