In Wednesdays MLB Draft UC’s very own junior outfielder Joey Wiemer got selected in the 4th round at pick 121 in the MLB Draft to the Milwaukee Brewers. Coming into the season Wiemer was selected as a Third Team Preseason All-American.
Before Covid-19 struck Wiemer was hitting .264 with 14 hits including four doubles, one homerun, while driving in 12 runs and drawing 14 walks. Wiemer was slugging .396 before the season ended suddenly and was really starting to turn it on at that point. Weimer was a huge success in the 2019 tournament run for the bearcats as he played a huge role in knocking off Oregon State at the NCAA regional which hosted the number one pick in the 2019 draft in Adley Ruschman. Joey went 3 of 5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in this big win for the Bearcats.
