The Cincinnati Bearcats Men’s Basketball team added Tyler Stuart as their new Director of Sports Performance replacing Mike Rehfeldt who went to UConn for the same position.
Congrats to Tyler, now it’s time to get the Bearcats ready for the season.
Per GoBearcats:
University of Cincinnati men’s basketball head coach John Brannen has announced that Tyler Stuart will join the Bearcats staff as the director of men’s basketball sports performance.
Stuart will oversee the physical development of the Bearcats, preparing them for optimum performance while decreasing the likelihood of injury. Stuart will also work closely with each student-athlete to prepare them for practice and games with coaching on nutrition, recovery and education. He brings a wealth of experience to UC, including stints at Clemson, Florida and, most recently, New Mexico.
“I would like to welcome Tyler, his wife Liz and their son Jack to the University of Cincinnati,” said Brannen. “Tyler’s background as one the top young basketball strength and conditioning coaches in the country really popped off the page in the hiring process. His character and passion for student-athletes will be what our guys see every day.”
Stuart comes to UC following three seasons (2017-20) as the director of strength and conditioning for the University of New Mexico’s men’s basketball program.
While with the Lobos, Stuart oversaw the strength and conditioning program along with managing the team’s nutrition needs. Prior to his time in Albuquerque, he spent five years (2012-17) at the University of Florida.
During his time with the Gators, Stuart designed and implemented year-round strength, speed and conditioning workouts for the Gator women’s basketball, women’s tennis and women’s golf teams; guides each student-athlete through an individual training program designed to enhance strength as well as explosive power, speed, agility, endurance, coordination, balance and flexibility.
Prior to working at UF, Stuart was the Director of Basketball Strength and Conditioning at Appalachian State for the 2011-12 season.
Stuart started his coaching career at Clemson University when he was the head women’s basketball strength and conditioning coach from August 2007 until July 2011. He also served as the interim head basketball strength and conditioning coach for a two-month period in 2009. Stuart worked as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Clemson from January 2007 until he began working with the women’s basketball program, spending time with the football, baseball, soccer and rowing teams for the Tigers.
The Anderson, South Carolina native earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology-exercise science from Anderson University in 2007 and a master’s in human nutrition from Clemson in 2011.
