First, I want to say if you didn’t watch Luke Fickell’s press conference from Monday click the link. The reason I’m writing this story is because with the change in the wide receiver room from 2019 to 2020 their have been players who have stood out, from Alec Pierce, Tre Tucker, Jayshon Jackson, Michael Young (Notre Dame transfer), Jordan Jones (Arkansas transfer), Tyler Scott (freshman) and Jadon Thompson (freshman).
It’s clear the staff likes what they are seeing from this group, but the name that keeps popping up that nobody expected to see is walk on wide receiver Dalrone Donaldson. Donaldson transferred in from Hutchinson Junior College, TFON spoke to him last year when the Bearcats where showing the 6’3″, 187 pound some interests. He wasn’t offered by the Bearcats, but he’s shown up and shown out, the question was posed by Bearcat Journal’s Chad Brendel and it prompted Fickell to respond with Donaldson has been playing great against the two’s and three’s, we are going to have to have him line up a few times with No. 12 soon (Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner). We all know Sauce is one of the best corners in the country and for Fickell to say he wants to see him go against him is a big complement to the work Donaldson is putting in.
Cincinnati doesn’t play until September 19th, but this is a good sign it seems Donaldson will be a guy that #BearcatNation will need to do their research on.
