Senior RB Gerrid Doaks off to hot start

It is easy to forget that as a redshirt freshman Gerrid Doaks led the team in rushing yards with 513 yards. An injury wiped out his sophomore season, but if you do your research he was in line to share the load with Michael Warren. We know Warren blew up, is currently in the NFL and Doaks was kind of an after thought. Last season he battled injuries, but showed promise that everyone saw his freshman season. Which is why it is great to see Indianapolis, Indiana native get his chance to be the lead back.

The Bearcats senior running back is off to a tremendous start so far this year. He had a massive day versus Austin Peay where he had 10 carries for 20 yards with three touchdowns and also had four receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.

The senior has received American Athletic Conference honors for two weeks so far this year (AAC Weekly Honor Roll 2xs). Doaks is off to a hot start and has shown early on he is ready to take on the workload since Michael Warren headed to the NFL. The 6 foot, 230 pound running back has six touchdowns through three games already while four came from rushing, two in the passing game including the game sealing 60 yard score on a wheel route late in the game versus then No. 22 Army. Through the first three games he has rushed for 157 yards on 42 carries for an average of 3.5 yards per carry. He also has six catches for 130 yards on the year along with the two touchdowns.

He has shown he’s ready to be a force for this Bearcats offense and the guy that makes plays in all aspects of the game whether it be the run game, pass game or protecting the quarterback. As this offense gets moving on all cylinders, I expect Doaks to have some monster games and hopefully help lead the Bearcats to a College Playoff push.
