It is official, no fans will be allowed at the Bearcats final three home games

If you have been following covid over the following weeks, you know numbers are spiking and with that information I think it was smart for the Bearcats to keep the protocols the same for the final three home games. Earlier in the year their was hope the university would be able to loosen up later in the year, but that just isn’t the case.

Let us know your thoughts!

Per GoBearcats:

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics will extend its current attendance protocols through the final three football home games, Director of Athletics John Cunningham announced Sunday.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, no fans have been allowed in Nippert Stadium on football game days except for family members of players and coaches from Cincinnati and its opponents. UC’s spirit groups from band, cheer, dance and the Bearcat mascot are socially distanced in the stands but not performing on field.

Those protocols will remain in place for the final three home football games.

“We have continued to make these extremely difficult decisions with the safety of our UC community, fans, student-athletes, coaches and staff in mind,” Cunningham said. “The current level of the virus in our local community and Hamilton County is a reality we are dealing with. Our obligation to mitigate the risk of community spread has not changed and we will continue to consult with University, city and state authorities on best practices. We want fans in the stands for our games and it’s heartbreaking to keep having to make decisions like this, but we want to ensure the environment is safe for everyone. We have had a number of unique fan interactive opportunities and look forward to building on that as we conclude the home football season.”
