Cincinnati didn’t play last week against Temple, after having a bye week and this week the College Football Playoff Committee moved Iowa State in front of Cincinnati and pushed the Bearcats to No. 8. We know Iowa State moving up gives Oklahoma a chance for the College Football Playoff and puts up more road blocks for Cincinnati.
Per GoBearcats:
The University of Cincinnati football team fell to No. 8 in the fourth College Football Playoff rankings of the 2020 season Tuesday.
The Bearcats have had their last two games, at Temple and No. 24 Tulsa, canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. UC had sat at No. 7 in the previous three rankings and dropped despite an 8-0 record (5-0 American Athletic Conference).
Cincinnati is No. 7 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, its first Top-10 ranking since the 2009 season.
As a result of tonight’s rankings, UC will play host to the Golden Hurricane in the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET inside Nippert Stadium. The game airs on ABC and 700 WLW AM.
