Today the Utah Jazz signed 6’8″ forward Tre Scott as a undrafted free agent. The Jazz did not release any information on the deal. Scott was a big part of the success at Cincinnati in his four years at the program including three conference championships. Scott was a part of an incredible 108 wins during his tenure at the University of Cincinnati which is second most in school history. During his career at Cincinnati he was known for his hustle, energy and leadership. There isn’t a player that deserves this more than Scott as he has grown before our eyes over his four years at Cincinnati.
Last year, as a senior Scott averaged 11.4 points per game, 10.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals in almost 34 minutes of playing time per game, while shooting almost 50% from the floor before the season got cut short right before the conference tournament due to covid-19. That’s pretty impressive in a shortened season. Scott showed what he is capable of last year as he took in a tremendous amount of recognition from his peers in the AAC after earning countless amounts of awards. He was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Year, AAC Most Improved Player, First team All-AAC, and earned the AAC Sportsmanship Award which is giving to a player that shows the best sportsmanship on and off the court. These are some highly praised awards for Scott as a senior within the American Athletic Conference.
Scott’s last game as a Bearcat before the season got cut short included a last second tip in versus Temple to give the Bearcats a 64-63 win at home. Scott will look to bring his tenacious energy and confidence to the NBA as his career begins with the Utah Jazz. We wish Tre nothing but the best as he has always been a class act on and off the court and will continue to follow his career in the NBA.
