WBB: Bearcats F IImar’I Thomas named to AAC Weekly Honor Roll

University of Cincinnati women’s basketball senior forward IImar’I Thomas (first name pronounced ee-MAR-ee) has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll the league announced Monday. 

Thomas put together another solid performance last Wednesday in a 61-52 home loss to Memphis, tallying a game-high 24 points with nine rebounds, eight assists, three steals and two blocks. She registered her 10th 20-point game of the season and finished just shy of completing her fourth double-double in the last six games.

AMONG THE BEST IN THE AAC AND NATION
Thomas leads the AAC in 10 statistical categories entering the week and ranks in the top 20 nationally for minutes played (third at 39.1), field goals made (eighth at 106), points per game (11th at 23.9) and free throws made (11th at 72). 

The Oakland, California, native leads the AAC in all categories listed above as well as field goal percentage (.544), total points (287), total minutes played (469), free throw percentage (.847), field goals attempted (195) and free throws attempted (85). 

AAC AWARDS
The most recent recognition for Thomas marks her third AAC Weekly Honor Roll selection of 2020-21. She has garnered AAC Player of the Week accolades twice this season as well.

Thomas earned WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and unanimous First Team All-AAC selection last season. She received AAC Player of the Week accolades three times and was a nine-time AAC Weekly Honor Roll recipient in 2019-20.  

She also earned First Team All-AAC honors as a sophomore in 2018-19 and was tabbed AAC Freshman of the Year and a unanimous All-Freshman Team selection in 2017-18.
