It’s been like what 10,000 years since the last time Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team played on the hardwood floor? During this pandemic college basketball season has been something else and to be honest I’m shocked it has lasted, but you kind of figured with the NCAA tournament being cancelled last season and the amount of revenue that was lost there was no way that history was going to repeat itself in 2021.
The Bearcats haven’t played a basketball game since January 10th when they went to Wichita State, laid egg on that Sunday afternoon and it was a disappointing loss because three days earlier the team had probably their best win of the season knocking off a good SMU Mustang team on the road. This long lay off of games is due to COVID problems going around the team and it’s not the first time the team has dealt with it, but this stretch is definitely the longest.
Let’s be honest before the virus hit the team in its face it wasn’t going well for them on the court to put it lightly. A 3-7 record, 1-4 in conference play and it’s safe to say that 10 consecutive NCAA Tournament streak is going to be over this season unless a miracles of all miracles happens in they just somehow win the conference tournament which hopefully gets played.
