Bearcats Basketball showed toughness in back to back wins

I don’t know how they did it but the Cincinnati Bearcats Men’s Basketball team who haven’t played a game in 25 days prior to their game at Temple on Febuaray 4th were able to rack up a win there and also a road win at Tulane on Super Bowl Sunday. Both games came down to the wire and the team won by the exact margin in them which was three points.

It’s pretty remarkable of a feat because not only they won, but they did it with familiar Bearcats basketball which is the DNA of the program, you defend, rebound and play with toughness. They had to do all that while taking the floor with walk-ons playing meaningful minutes in both games.

The Temple victory was led by David DeJulius the Michigan transfer who dropped a career high of 26 points and also this game featured a walk-on in Rob Banks who was inserted into the starting lineup. I think everyone including myself was shocked, but not too entirely because before the game head coach John Brannen said that wouldn’t have a full roster. Keith Williams came off the bench in this one and scored 15 big points. Jeremiah Davenport continued his sophomore surge with 14 points. UC had to hold on, but frankly I’ll take it with how much adversity this team had to overcome. Right from the get go you could tell the effort was on full display especially on the defensive front. The free throw shooting was horrendous down the stretch, but they were able to overcome it.

A win is a win as they say!
