Now to the Tulane victory on Sunday where they were able to hold off the Green Wave and Ron Hunter down in New Orelans, 64-61. It wasn’t pretty at all just like the Temple win, but it’s such an encouragement for this group who fought until the buzzer sounded. Williams led the way for UC with 20 points and in the game eclipsed 1,000 points in his collegiate career. Remember the USF game last year when Keith scored a career high 32 points? Keith went on a 7-0 run to get his team back in the game late in the second half when they searching for some offense. Freshman star in the making Tari Eason contributed with 13 big points while grabbing nine rebounds in the process.
Both of these wins the team showed lots of grit and toughness. It’s going to be at times painful to watch because they haven’t played in a while, but I think we know that this bunch won’t give in. They have little momentumn to carry with as they have a tall task on the road this coming Thursday night at Memphis at 7 pm. If they can pull that game off and go 3-0 on this trip plus the fact they had 25 day layoff of no basketball, watch out. I’m not saying they are going to the tournament don’t twist my words, but don’t jump the ship just yet!
