Bearcats winning the close ones when it counts

The Bearcats are back to .500 at 7-7 and 5-4 in AAC play. During this stretch of winning basketball there have been times where you can tell the layoff has impacted them with no games and very little practices so execuation isn’t the best. I’ve seen is at times the carless turnovers, missed free throws and lack of rebounding the ball.

When you look back at the two Temple victories they had some bad execution down the stretch that gave the Owls life, but clutch free throw shooting helped the Bearcats prevail by the skin of their teeth. In the road win over Tulane it was the same deal they had a somewhat comfortable lead, but then bad offensive play crept back in and it almost let that one get away but they held on. This past Sunday home win over UCF in a game where the Bearcats were up 63-56, but ended up winning 69-68. I believe that the team from December would have gone 2-2 during this stretch.

You can see the potential in this team in stretches during this winning streak, this group is still a major work in progress, but when you win it is easier to work on those mistakes. This Sunday is a big test for this bunch as they hit the road to take on sixth ranked Houston Cougars at 1 pm on ESPN. They have nothing to lose, while playing with house money and you never know in college basketball this season.
