JS: How was your visit to UC?
GP: It was truly amazing. I was able to meet coach Fickell, coach Tressel, coach Mason and a bunch of the players on the team. Coach Lambert toured me and my parents around the campus and facilities. It was great. We also watched the linebackers go through some individual drills with coach Tressel and it was great to witness that. The atmosphere was great, when we watched the team practice, the players and coaches were energetic, having fun and working hard. I truly feel like I could fit in really well at UC.
JS: How amazing is it to be getting attention from a school that your cousin attends?
GP: It was great. You can tell that UC has a very strong appreciation for the student athletes which is amazing. The UC fans love Alec and he has shown that there is more to come from the Pierce family.
JS: Which coach have you been in contact with on the staff?
GP: I have been in contact with coach Lambert, coach Denbrock (Offensive Coordinator), and coach Mason. We will continue to talk as I progress through summer camp and into the fall season.
JS: Have you been offered? Who is showing attention?
GP: I have been offered by Rose Hulman (DIII and the top engineering school in the nation). I have been getting attention from schools from all levels including a number of Ivies, a mix of G5 and P5 including Iowa, Iowa State and Syracuse. I am interested in all schools that are interested in me. On the D1 level, school I am interested in are Cincinnati, Iowa, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Syracuse and Northern Iowa.
JS: How would you describe your game?
GP: Smart, physical and versatile. I will be the leader on the field, communicating with my teammates throughout the game. Also, tough and nasty between the whistles. I can and will play any position on the field whether that is on offense or defense. In my last varsity season, I played tight end, linebacker and defensive end.
JS: Who is the best athlete in the family? (LOL)
GP: I have to give that crown to Alec on this one. My dad might’ve gave him a run for his money back in the day when he was a linebacker at Stanford in the 90’s, but I think Alec takes the crown for the best athlete in the family nowadays.
JS: Do you have visits and camps lined up?
GP: Yes, I’m camping at Iowa on June 18th and will unofficially visit Northern Iowa while I’m out in Iowa. Then on July 17th I am going up to Harvard for camp. I may also be camping at Yale sometime in early July. I am also planning to come up to Cincy for the home game Murray State on September 11th. I will also do some visits to schools during the fall season.
JS: Do you have a timeline on choosing your school?
GP: It all depends on when it feels right to me. With Covid and all that’s happened in the last 18 months, it has pushed back recruiting for the class of 2022. Right now, I’m just putting in the work to get bigger, stronger, faster and keeping my options open. I just finished tennis season and an now playing in summer league varsity basketball both of which are great for my footwork and overall agility.
