Bearcats add C.B. McGrath to MBB staff

Per GoBearcats:

University of Cincinnati head men’s basketball coach Wes Miller has announced C.B. McGrath as a special assistant for the 2021-22 season.
The program previously added seven to its support staff on June 1 to join assistant coaches Chad Dollar, Andre Morgan and Mike Roberts.

McGrath served as UNC Wilmington’s head coach from 2017-20, as well as under Roy Williams for four years at Kansas (1999-03) and 14 at North Carolina (2003-17). He was an assistant coach for 11 years and the Director of Operations for three while in Chapel Hill (where Miller redshirted one year and played three), which included three national championships and seven Final Four trips.

In his first season with the Seahawks, McGrath’s squad reached the 2018 CAA Semifinals and ranked fifth in offensive rebounding in the NCAA behind Devontae Cacok, who led the nation in rebounds per game (13.5 rpg) and offensive boards (5.06). The forward went on to lead all NCAA Division I players in double-doubles in 2018-19 as the Seahawks split a pair of games in the CAA Tournament.

As a player, McGrath lettered four years for Williams at Kansas, appearing in 112 games and serving as a captain for the 1997-98 season, in addition to a pair of Academic All-Big 12 accolades. He also earned state Player of the Year Honors at Topeka West High School. McGrath earned his bachelor’s degree in human biology in 1998 and a master’s in education in 2000.
