During Camp Higher ground and through the first week of practice back on campus all eyes have been on Desmond Ridder. There is a reason for that as this is the biggest year for the Cincinnati Bearcats as they have their highest rank in the preseason in the history of the program and are looking to find a way to the college football playoffs, but behind Ridder is a guy who doesn’t get talked about right now due to all the excitement of QB1 and the team.
QB2 A.K.A Evan Prater. The second-year quarterback who redshirted last year has been behind the scenes and has learned from the current starter during his two years being with the team. That obviously transferred over to the field as Prater had a solid camp as he looked a lot more confident, poised and making very accurate throws to guys like Drew Donley and Jadon Thompson. Prater has taken a major step forward this year and was already comfortable with all the guys at Camp Higher Ground. Prater has received a lot of praise from Ridder for his play and his maturity through the first year and camp. There won’t be a lot of opportunity for Prater this upcoming year unless there is an injury, but the following year Parter should step into the starting quarterback role, should take the role by the horns and run with it.
There is plenty of excitement for this team for years to come with Prater running the offense and a young receiving core of Drew Donley, Jadon Thompson, Tyler Scott, Chris Scott and many more. This team should be exciting this upcoming year, but don’t believe after this year they will be done. This team is just getting started and Prater will play a major role in keeping the momentum going.
