JS: How was your visit for you and what was your favorite part?
NS: I loved my visit, the atmosphere, the fans and the chip on the shoulder the players play with all made me love Cincinnati. My favorite part of the visit was meeting Coach Paige (running backs) and talking to the students to actually get a true feel of the campus.
JS: How was this last year for you I know it was hard on a lot of players with covid and seasons getting cut short or not being played at all. How was it for you as a whole mentally and what did you work on to make sure you were ready to play?
NS: Covid was a positive thing for me mentally, it made me dial in on my school work, training and help me understand every day isn’t promised. One outbreak can cause you to miss an entire season. I made sure I gained weight and trained on the field twice a week and four times a week in the weight room to get ahead of my peers. Gaining 15 pound before my summer camp started was a big priority so I can get accustomed to playing at 180-185.
JS: What made you want to play football and what does it mean to you?
NS: My family is big on football, all of my cousins that played sports were all good at football. I started with baseball and when I would tag someone out, I would push them pretty hard, but not on purpose. I was always the fastest in baseball so I wanted to try football. After I begged my mom to play she finally gave in and let me play. I was definitely scared of getting hit so my mindset was if I can outrun them I’ll never be hit. I fell in love with football my first game when I scored four touchdowns and realized I might actually be good. Ever since that moment I knew I was a football player.
JS: What are your personal goals this year for football and then your goals beyond this year?
NS: My personal goals for this year are 2,000 yards all-purpose, 25 touchdowns and do everything in my power to get my team to host a playoff game. My goals beyond this year are to have a good idea of the schools I would like to attend and to graduate in December of my senior year to be with the team for all of the offseason.
JS: What can a coaching staff expect out of you from a physical and mental standpoint?
NS: I’m a leader on and off the field. I’m quiet and like to avoid all distractions in my social life, but when I’m in the classroom and on the field, I’m vocal and lead by example. I listen, I learn, very humble, but I get after it in the classroom and on the football field. I own up to my mistakes and give no excuses when I do wrong.
JS: What has been your favorite part of the recruiting process so far?
NS: My favorite part has been visiting and talking to schools I would have never imagined talking to. Coaches keeping in touch makes me feel like they truly want me to be a part of their program, which is a big part of my recruiting.
TFON would like to thank Nic for taking some time to talk to us and we wish you nothing but luck and are looking forward to watching you this season!
