The Cincinnati Bearcats football team are coming off their historic win on the road last Saturday at Notre Dame and for the first time in four weeks they play in front Bearcats fans at historic Nippert Stadium on Friday night.
They did not disappoint the faithful as the Cats rolled over the visiting Temple Owls in their conference home opener.
Thoughts on the game:
- The Bearcats defensive line is so fast it’s insane. They pressured Owls’ freshman quarterback D’Wan Mathis as he was running for his life it felt like in every play.
- Desomon Ridder had another efficent game going 22-of-30 passing for 259 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
- Running back Jermoe Ford ran like a man child as his 75 yard touchdown burst right out the gate for the second half delievered the knockout blow to Temple. Ford finshed the game with 15 carries, 149 rushing yards and two toucdowns.
- Charles “Chuck” McClleland had a rushing touchdown from 28 yards out. It was such a cool moment because he had to endured two knee injuries that abrutly ended his last two seasons so for him to work so had to finally get in the endzone was rewarding to watch.
- Ethan Wright showed a blitz of his speed from the tailback field as he jolted passed Temple defenders for a 58 yard touchdown run.
- Alec Pierce draft stock continues to rise week by week as he grabbed a touchdown reception that was a tough catch to get leaping over a defender drapped all over him.
- On the defensive side Coby Bryant got an inteception. Deshawn Pace had another great game as he continues to rise. Bryan Cook and Joel Dublanko had solid games as well.
UC is ranked 3rd in the AP poll this week its their highest ranking in school history. Next game is Saturday at noon against the UCF Knights at Nippert Staduim.
