Per GoBearcats:
Cincinnati junior running back Jerome Ford was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after he rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of Saturday’s 56-21 win over UCF at Nippert Stadium.
Ford finished with 189 rushing yards and four scores on 20 carries as the second-ranked Bearcats eclipsed 50 points in back-to-back games for the first time in school history. UC’s No. 2 ranking in the AP poll is also its highest-ever.
It marks the second straight week Ford has been named the conference’s top offensive player after he rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in the 52-3 win over Temple.
The Tampa, Fla., native ranks second nationally with 12 rushing touchdowns and seventh with 118.2 rushing yards per game.
Ford’s 79-yard touchdown in the second quarter put UC ahead 28-0 and his 4-yard score gave the Bearcats a 35-0 advantage.
Senior cornerback Coby Bryant snagged AAC honor roll mention for the second consecutive week, as well, after recording his first career pick-six, a 74-yard touchdown that put Cincinnati in front 42-7 in the third quarter.
