TFON talks to G/F Bloomington North HS (IN) JaQualon Roberts about his unofficial visit to Cincinnati

JS: How was your visit to Cincinnati? What all did you get to do and see during it?

JR: The visit was really good! I got to see their arena and practice facility. We sat down with all the coaches, watched some film and talked about my fit. We also drove around the campus and during that we crossed paths with the football coach.

JS: Talk to me about the recruiting process this year so far. With Covid behind us and actually being able to go on visits how has been for you to have a normal off-season and do things you might not have been able to do last year?

JR: It’s been great! I’ve been going on these visits and taking everything in. Mostly just making sure I don’t take anything for granted. It’s a blessing that Covid has gone down and I’m able to fully go through the process.

JS: You mentioned earlier that you talked to the coaching staff of Cincinnati. How was that and who all were you able to talk to?

JR: I think we talked to all of the coaching staff. I had a good conversation with coach (Wes) Miller (head coach) and was able to talk to coach (Mike) Roberts (assistant coach) throughout the tour segment of the visit.

JS: To start it off what made you want to play basketball originally?

JR: My mom was my biggest inspiration. We would practice at the park and be out there for hours working on my game. I started playing in a youth league at 4 years old. Ever since then, I’ve just enjoyed playing.

JS: What can a coaching staff expect out of you on the court and in the locker room?

JR: A leader, who will give 110% heart and effort to the team.

JS: What is one thing about you that a lot of people don’t know, but should know?

JR: One is that I run track. I went to state in the 400m and 4x400m relay.

JS: What are your goals for this upcoming year and in the future?

JR: My goal for this year is to win state. Our season starts in two weeks so I will be focusing on that. My goal for the future is to play in college somewhere and go to the NBA.

JS: Do you have a favorite moment or a moment that sticks out from your time playing basketball?

JR: Probably playing our second team for the 3SSB championship for Indiana Elite. It was a really fun game and super competitive.

JS: Do you plan on coming back to campus anytime in the near future?

JR: Right now we’re getting ready for my high school season so we’ll be focusing on that, but coming back on campus will definitely be I would love to do.
