TFON speaks with Walnut Hills HS (OH) PF Tyler McKinley

NM- My first question for you, how was your experience at Cincinnati this weekend?

TM- The visit was amazing. The atmosphere this weekend was great.

NM- What stood out to you about Cincinnati’s campus. How did it feel as a Cincinnati native, to be on campus, with everything that surrounding the game, Homecoming, as well as College GameDay being on campus for the first time ever. Talk about what that was like as a recruit?

TM- It was a great feeling. The Homecoming plus College GameDay combo defiantly added to the experience. I had a great time overall.

NM- What coaches have you been in contact with from the University of Cincinnati?

TM- I have mostly been in contact with (assistant) coach (Andre) Morgan.

NM- Being from Cincinnati, talk about what it is like to hold an offer from your hometown school, especially knowing all the history behind Cincinnati’s program?

TM- It’s special, knowing they want me to be a part of their program.

NM- Being from Cincinnati, have you been able to get any advice from the local Cincinnati players (Jeremiah Davenport) if so, how was that?

TM- The main person I have gotten advice from was some of my brother’s old teammates, and friends. They just keep telling me to work on my game and continue to get better.

NM- Now. let’s talk about your game a little, you’re a 6-foot-9 forward talk about what people should know about your game as a player?

TM- Being 6-foot-9, I’m very versatile on the court, I can do a little bit of everything. I love to pass and get my teammates involved. I think I play the game the right way.

NM- Let’s talk about your goals ahead of your sophomore season, what are you looking to accomplish this season as a player?”

TM- I just want to be the best player I can be for this team, and coach Cardo (Ricardo Hall). I want to help make this season special for our seniors.

NM- Who are some players you model your game after, being a 6-foot-9 forward?

TM- I model my game after Kevin Durant, but mostly Jayson Tatum as well.

NM- Those are two great players. What should coaches expect from you as a player?

TM- I’m very unselfish, and coachable. I am always asking questions when I can, as I am looking to learn when I am on the court.

NM- Your freshman season you averaged nearly 11 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2 blocks per game. What did you work on this offseason to take your game to the next level?

TM- I worked on my confidence and body mostly. I’m continuing to touch up on my versatility and outside game.
