The Aggies came out firing to start the 4th quarter as they cut the Bearcats lead to 5, after a quick 5 points to start the fourth quarter forcing the Bearcats to call timeout to stop the Aggie momentum. The Aggies were looking to make a late game comeback, but would the Bearcats weren’t shying away easy as they knew they had to keep their foot on the gas down the stretch here this afternoon. The Aggies however continued to knock down some big shots, as a huge three from Shereka McNeill cut the Bearcats lead to 2, as the Aggies trailed 64-62 with 2:17 left in the game, as the Aggies were looking to finish the comeback after trailing as much as 19. The Aggies got a huge bank three from guard Shereka McNeill to tie this game up and head to overtime tied at 66, after the Aggies outscored the Bearcats 21-11 in the fourth quarter.
The Bearcats got off to a quick start in overtime as Jillian Hayes scored consecutive layups to give the Bearcats a 70-66 lead before the Aggies rallied back to tie this game at 72 with just under a minute left in the first overtime. The Aggies held for the last shot of the first overtime where they missed the three-point attempt forcing this one to go to a second overtime.
The Bearcats came out firing in the 2nd overtime as they got off to a great start as they scored 6 straight points to take a 78-72 lead over the Aggies with 2:24 remaining. The Bearcats held the Aggies to 2 points in the second overtime where they just ran out of gas down the stretch, The Bearcats dominated the second overtime where they scored 15 points to cap off a 87-77 victory over North Carolina A&T.
The Bearcats dominated the paint, where they scored 52 of their 87 points. The Bearcats had 4 players in double digits as the Bearcats were led by Akira levy who finished with 22 points, shooting 11-of-11 from the foul line on the afternoon, while dishing out 12 assists and seven rebounds. Jillian Hayes finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Arame Niang finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Clarissa Craig the Cincinnati native finished with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The Bearcats were tested though down the stretch, where they once led by as many as 19 before the Aggies found stride late in the game to force this on to double overtime as the Bearcats held on to win 87-77 to improve to 7-4 on the season.
The Bearcats will be back in action this Wednesday as they travel to Milwaukee to take on Marquette at 2 pm, where they look to improve to 8-4 with a big non-conference game looming ahead of conference play.
