The Cincinnati Bearcats traveled on the road to face the ECU Pirates looking to bounce back from the loss to Temple. Coming into the game 14-6 overall and 4-3 in the AAC, they were looking for win number 15.
Cincinnati started off the game slow, but hot shooting from Mika Adams-Woods righted the ship for the road team. He scored 16 points in the first half on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. His hot shooting was able to help the Bearcats take a 32-26 lead into the half. Cincinnati won the rebound battle 23-19 which was key as well as Adams-Woods scoring. Abdul Ado had three rebounds.
In the second half the Bearcats pushed the lead to 10 points, but ECU made a late run to take an 1 point lead after two Vance Jackson free throws. Before the free throw it was a terrible charge call against Adams-Woods that should’ve been an and 1 opportunity and allowed the Bearcats to go up 3 possibly 4. That led to the Bearcats being down 1 and David DeJulius missing a floater grabbing his own rebound and making the put back to give them a win, 60-59.
Adams-Woods had a career high 21 points, DeJulius had 14 points and Davenport had 15 points. Now Cincinnati is 15-6 overall and 5-3 in the AAC. Head coach Wes Miller got his 200th win. The Bearcats play next at home against Memphis on Thursday.
