The trend of Cincinnati Bearcats being drafted in the NFL was alive and strong on the third day of the NFL Draft. Darrian Beavers was the next domino to fall for Bearcats selected. Beavers was selected 182nd overall by the New York Giants in the sixth round. Beavers became the 8th Bearcat selected in this year’s draft. The Bearcats had a very impressive year and NFL teams noticed that apparently. Beavers will look to help a rebuilding New York Giants team. Beavers will be able to slide into the linebacker room and immediately play a role for the Giants. Beavers will also play a role on special teams and getting to the quarterback on the edge.
Dick Butkus Award finalist and First-Team All-AAC selection proved to be one of the nation’s top linebackers during his senior season. Beavers was selected for the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Beavers finished fifth in the AAC with 102 tackles and 11.5 TFLS and added 4.5 sacks, an interception, two pass breakups, two fumbles forced, and two more recoveries.
