The Norse would tie this one back up at 4 in the top of the 3rd after a leadoff double from Treyvin Moss, The Norse would get an RBI single from designated hitter Ryan Glass to tie this one back up here at UC Baseball Stadium. The Bearcats would retake the lead after a Cole Harting reached on error to give the Bearcats a 5-4 lead, but the damage wouldn’t stop there as Paul Komistek would drive in Dondrae Bemner to give the Bearcats a two run lead, where they took a 6-4 lead heading to the 4th. The Bearcats would add some insurance runs after Cam Scheler launched his 4th home run of the season to give the Bearcats a 7-4 lead over the Norse.
The Norse would look to get the bats rolling as they had the bases loaded in the top of the 6th, before getting one run back on a wild pitch from Evan Kemp, scoring John Odom to cut the Bearcats lead to 2, where the Norse trailed the Bearcats 7-5. However, the Bearcats would get that run back as Bearcats would load the bases with 0 outs for 3rd baseman Wyatt Stapp, who would rip an RBI single to right field to give the Bearcats an 8-5 lead in the bottom of the 6th, as the Bearcats would look to put some more runs across the scoreboard, but they would eventually leave the bases stranded, where they took an 8-5 lead to the 7th inning.
The Bearcats would keep the ball rolling offensively as they got a big RBI double from Paul Komistek in the bottom of the 7th to give the Bearcats a 9-6 lead over the Norse, as the Bearcats were finding their groove as they followed suit with an Sacrifice fly from Ryan Nicholson and a single from Kameron Guidry, to take an 11-6 lead over the Norse as they were looking to put this one away here at UC Baseball Stadium. The Bearcats would leave the bases loaded for the second straight inning, after getting the opportunity to put this one behind them, the Norse found a way to get themselves out of the jam for the second straight inning.
Cole Harting would get back in the action in the bottom of the 8th after launching his second homerun of the day, a solo shot on a no doubter that landed on Shakely Lawn, to give the Bearcats a 12-6 lead over the Norse, as the sophomore outfielder continues to rake after being named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll last week. That would be the only damage done in the 8th by the Bearcats, but the Bearcats were looking to slam the door here and finish out the Norse.
The Bearcats would slam the door in the 9th and improve to 20-25 on the season, where they held a (9-9) record within the American Athletic Conference. The Bearcats offense was just too strong for the Norse today, as the Norse had a hard time finding the zone, as they gave up 11 walks on the day, while allowing 14 hits, powered by Cole Harting, who had a multi homerun day, where he went 3-6 with 3 RBI’s. and 2 Home runs, also stealing a base in this one. Paul Komistek also had a big day where he went 3-4 from the dish, with 2RBI’s and 2 walks. Cam Scheler also had a great day where he launched his 4th homerun on the season, going 1-4 from the plate. Ryan Sheckline was the winning pitcher for this one where he went 3 innings in relief, only allowing 2 hits, while striking out 4. The Bearcats had the opportunity to put this one away a few times before the 8th inning after Harting’s second home run of the day, but they left 11 on base in this one, with the opportunity to do damaged the Norse found ways out of jams throughout this one.
The Bearcats keep the streak going after taking 2 of 3 from Tulane over the weekend, the Bearcats now have won 3 of their last 4 as they head into the final homestand of the season, when they welcome in Memphis for a 3 game series that starts on Friday night at 5 pm as the Bearcats look to get to 500% heading into the American Athletic Conference Tournament at the end of the month.
