Tonight, the Bearcats continued to keep the ball rolling after landing 10 commitments last week, they were able to land a commitment from four star cornerback, Amare Snowden. Snowden, a two sport athlete from Roseville, Michigan, where he also excels on the baseball diamond will be joining Bearcats head coach Scott Googins as he looks to join some elite company becoming a duel sport athlete at the college level joining the likes of Kyler Murray and Jameis Winston. For people who haven’t followed Snowden’s career on the baseball diamond should really start to take notice as he threw a no hitter while recording 13 strikeouts, and launching a homerun during his high school season back in May.
Snowden, however is currently rated the 343rd rated prospect in the class of 2023, and the 34th rated cornerback in the class of 2023. Snowden a 6-foot-3 defensive back from right outside Detroit, now looks to fill some big shoes as another Detroit native once left in Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. Snowden was on his official visit to Cincinnati over the weekend and the Bearcats locked down one of their top targets, who they have made a priority over the last year, and Kerry Coombs and Luke Fickell made sure to get the job done as they continue to add to their 2023 recruiting class that now features 4 four star, and 15 three star recruits, which is now the highest rated recruiting class in program history that continues to get better by the day as they now sit as the fourth ranked recruiting class in the 2023 recruiting rankings.
Snowden is a long and athletic cornerback that many people will see flashes of Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner right away. A long physical corner with his athleticism will be fun to watch especially under Bearcats defensive back coach Kerry Coombs who is arguably the best defensive back coach in all of college football and has a long history of developing star talent in the secondary. Snowden now becomes the 5th defensive back to commit to the Bearcats in the class of 2023, which will be the Bearcats first season in the Big 12 and it is safe to say Kerry Coombs is loading that defensive back room right away as he enters his first season as the Bearcats defensive backs and special teams coach.
