Quincy Burroughs– Burroughs, a freshman has had a dominant camp after deciding not to enroll early this spring, Burroughs has looked phenomenal throughout his first fall camp with the Bearcats. The freshman has tremendous route running skills, and for someone 6-foot-2, he is so twitchy and athletic and has been able to win a great number of matchups so far and could surprise a lot of people based on how he has looked early, and he has left some of his teammates in wow including wide receiver Tyler Scott who compared him to NFL star Julio Jones.
“I think it starts with him, one thing I’ve noticed with Quincy is that he is there mentally, his mindset is there, he wants to be great, he wants to get better. That was the first thing I had noticed with him. As far as him on the field, he reminds me of a Julio Jones type, he kind of moves like him. He is hungry, which is good, he is always asking questions, trying to find ways to get better, make sure he is always doing the right thing, he’s always early to things too. I think he is going to be great,” said Tyler Scott.
Bearcats wide receiver Tre Tucker also elaborated on freshman Quincy Burroughs, and what he has been able to see from him so far in camp.
“He is a young guy, but man he is going to be really good one day, I’m excited to see him too, he should find his way onto the field this year someway. His mindset is there, that’s the big thing you got to have, especially coming in as a freshman,” said Tucker.
Jadon Thompson– A 6-foot-2 receiver who played in 12 games last season, and only caught 14 passes for 208 yards during limited action. Thompson, has had a great fall camp and has continued to shine on the offensive side of the ball along with guys like Tre Tucker, Tyler Scott, Quincy Burroughs and Chris Scott. Expect to see Thompson in a bigger role this season, after losing guys like Micheal Young, Jr. and Alec Pierce to the NFL. Thompson, came in the same class with Evan Prater and we have seen the two build a very great connection throughout camp and will be very curious to see that transition over to the season when the Bearcats kick off the season in just under three weeks.
Chris Scott– Scott, appeared in 8 games last season where he only recorded one catch for 6 yards versus SMU. However, the redshirt sophomore has stood out through camp, as he has great hands, and really great route running skills. Expect to see Scott get some action this year and step into a role like Michael Young, Jr. had a season ago where he became just about automatic on those 3rd and short situations, for someone who has that route running ability and great hands, Scott could see his number called quite a bit this season for the Bearcats, and is someone to keep an eye on along the likes of Tre Tucker, Nick Mardner, Tyler Scott and Jadon Thompson on the offensive side of the ball in the passing game.
