This Afternoon the Bearcats welcomed in Florida State for the final game of the Tribute to 10 Tournament here at Fifth Third Arena played in honor of late Bearcat Stephanie Meinig-Rosfeld. The Bearcats come into the match 0-2 after two heartfelt loses to Dayton and Illinois State on Friday. The Seminoles come into this contest 2-0 on the other hand after defeating Illinois State 3 sets to 1 on Friday, and Dayton 3 sets to 1 yesterday. Coach Alvey and they Bearcats are looking to get in the win column here this afternoon vs a very good Florida State team, who is coming off a season where they made the NCAA Tournament, and are receiving votes nationally in the Top 25 to start the 2022 season.

Set 1- The Bearcats would take an early 2-0 lead following a Seminole attacking error and kill from Abby Walker. The Seminoles would rally back to tie it at 2 before a service error would give the Bearcats a 3-2 lead. The Bearcats would take a 5-2 lead after a 3-0 run that was featured by a kill from Abby Walker and service ace from freshman Paige Pickering, and the Bearcats were looking to establish momentum early. The Bearcats would jump out to an 11-6 lead following consecutive free balls over to the Bearcats defense, that ended in consecutive kills for redshirt freshman Ligia Williams, and the Bearcats were looking to establish their middles early here at Fifth Third Arena. The Seminoles would rally back after the Bearcats lead 18-15 before the Seminoles would find their first run of the match and tie this up at 18 following an attacking error from Carly Glendinning. That run would turn into a 6-point swing of things, as the Seminoles would take a 21-18 lead after a service ace from Lauryn Burrows and kill from Audrey Rothman. The Bearcats would look to fight back after consecutive blocks from Ligia Williams and Kailea Carrier cut the Seminoles lead to 1, where they lead the Bearcats 22-21 in Set 1. The Bearcats would get a huge overpass kill from Abby Walker to give the Bearcats a 24-23 lead, but the Seminoles wouldn’t go away until an attacking error followed by a Shaye Eggleston ace gave the Bearcats a 26-24 victory over the Seminoles to take a 1-0 lead early.
Set 2- The Bearcats would jump out and take an early 4-0 lead following kills from Shaye Eggleston, Kailea Carrier, then Freshman Paige Pickering followed up with a service ace forcing the Seminoles to take an early timeout to settle things down. The Bearcats would establish their momentum early, in a sport of runs that 5-0 run to start Set 2 was crucial for Molly Alvey and the Bearcats as they would keep their foot on the gas and take a 13-5 lead following a kill from Abby Walker, and service ace from Payton Frederick. The Bearcats would fight off a Florida State run late in the set, but the Bearcats were too much for the Seminoles here in Set 2, as they took a 21-17 lead following a huge kill from Ligia Williams.
