Kennesaw State Offense
Xavier Shepherd, quarterback
Shepherd will be a guy the Bearcats have to keep an eye on. Like their first quarterback matchup with K.J. Jefferson, Sheppard can run the ball very well, has the strength and awareness to run any player on the field over. He led the team with a game-high 35 carries in the team’s 27-17 loss to Samford, which was also a Kennesaw State record for most carries in a game. Sheppard had a very impressive campaign last year as he led the FCS with 23 rushing touchdowns and will look to continue that on Saturday against the Bearcats defense.
Preston Daniels, running back
The other side of the triple-option threat is running back Preston Daniels. The Bearcats will have enough trouble containing Xavier Shepherd, but will also have some headaches with the junior running back. Daniels last week rushed for 64 yards on only eight attempts and has had a strong impact in the run game for the Lions the last couple of years. If the Bearcats are going to win this game they must stop the Kennesaw State run game.
