Cincinnati senior quarterback Ben Bryant was named to the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 List as one of the top-performing quarterbacks in the country following his Indiana performance.
Bryant had as many touchdowns as incompletions in the first half, going 17-of-21 for 314 yards and four scores. It marked the highest first-half output since Zach Collaros (340) versus UConn on Nov. 7, 2009. The Bearcats led the Hoosiers 38-10 at the break en route to a 45-24 win.
The La Grange, Ill., native leads the AAC in completions (23.0 per game) and completion rate (67.2 percent), ranking 20th and 35th nationally, respectively. His 1,217 passing yards are 13th as well. Bryant has thrown for 300-plus yards in all three FBS games this year, with Saturday’s 354 matching a career-high.
Cincinnati (3-1) opens AAC play at Tulsa on Saturday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
