This afternoon Bearcats freshman Megan Smith was named AAC Rookie of the Week after her dominant performance in the teams 2-2 draw vs Memphis.
Smith would break feee late in the 60th minute after the Bearcats trailed 0-1 to Memphis and would score the equalizer after she chipped one over Claire Wyville’s head to score her third goal of the season to tie the match at 1.
The Bearcats would end in a 2-2 draw vs Memphis, who came into the match predicted to win the AAC. Smith’s goal would be her third of the season and would end up being a huge momentum shift for the Bearcats late in the match as they kicked off conference play.
This is now Smith’s second AAC Rookie of the Week honors after she was tabbed with such honor back at the beginning of September where she recorded her first two collegiate goals in the Bearcats 5-1 victory over Stony Brook. Smith has been a bright spot for the Bearcats and has continued to earn her playing time throughout the early part of the season and continues to be a dominant force for the Bearcats.
