Set 3- A back and forth battle as we were tied at 6, as Shaye Eggleston and Carly Glendinning would combine for 5 of the Bearcats 6 points as they continued to have great nights offensively as they were the hot hands for Caroline Endres and Emme Madden in the Bearcats offense, as the Mustangs were doing a great job eliminating Abby Walker and Kailea Carrier on offense throughout the first two sets. The Bearcats would tie this one back up at 9 despite a 2 point lead from the Mustangs following a block from Walker, her first of the match. The Bearcats would keep their foot on the gas as they took a 17-15 lead following a Tatum kill and the offense was starting to click for the Bearcats. Shaye Egglestone would follow up with consecutive kills, her 5th and 6th kill of the set that would give the Bearcats a 20-18 lead as they were looking to extend this to a 4th set. The Bearcats would take Set 3, 25-22 behind 12 combined kills from Shaye Eggleston and Carly Glendinning as the outsides were letting it rip there in Set 3 and the Bearcats were looking to carry the momentum over to Set 4 as they looked to flip the script as they still trailed two sets to one.
Set 4- The Bearcats would jump out to a 6-5 lead following a huge kill from Carrier off the Mustang block and the Bearcats were looking to extend their lead and eliminate any opportunity for the Mustangs to go on another run like they did in the first two sets of the match. The Mustangs however would take an 11-9 lead and force coach Alvey and the Bearcats to take an early timeout as the Bearcats looked to stop the Mustangs momentum, but the Mustangs thought otherwise as they jumped out to a 16-12 lead as they were looking to close this one out here at Fifth Third Arena. The Mustangs would just be to strong for the Bearcats tonight as they would hold on to win Set 4, 25-15 and take the match three sets to one over the Bearcats.
Notables- Carly Glendinning finished with a team high 18 kills, while hitting .289% on the match.
Shaye Eggleston had a huge night where she recorded her third double-double of the season and a career high 15 kills, along with 12 digs while hitting .300% on the match.
Avery Tatum- Recorded 10 kills while hitting. 320 on the match.
Caroline Endres- Finished with 33 assists.
Marie Tobergte- Finished with a team high 16 digs.
The Bearcats (3-10) (1-2 AAC) will be back in action this Sunday at 1 pm as they welcome in Memphis (11-5) (1-2 AAC) to Fifth Third Arena.
