WVB: Bearcats defeat Temple 3-2 behind a career high 22 kills from Avry Tatum

Set 4- The Bearcats would jump out with an early 3-2 lead over the Owls following kills from Walker and Tatum, as Walker also chimed in with a huge service ace as the Bearcats were looking to get the offense going in all aspects early. Temple would respond with a four point run to take a 8-5 lead over the Bearcats after a slew of errors forced head coach Molly Alvey to call timeout early. The Bearcats would rally back and take a 15-14 lead following a run that started with a huge kill from Elissa Alcanatara, followed by consecutive Owl errors, and a Madden service ace the Bearcats were looking to find their stride at the right time as they looked to close the door here in Philadelphia. The Owls weren’t shying away as they responded back with a run of their own as they took a 18-15 lead and never looked back from there as they held on to take Set 4, 25-20 to tie this match at two sets each.

Set 5- The battle to the end, as both teams knew they had to get something going early as they play to 15, but this one was all Bearcats after taking an early 8-4 lead behind kills from Glendinning and Tatum, the Bearcats were looking to slam the door on the Owls and get back in the win column. The Bearcats would keep their foot on the gas after taking a 13-6 lead following consecutive kills from Tatum on the right side and a huge block by Eggleston, all the momentum was favoring the Bearcats. The Bearcats would hold on and defeat the Owls 15-8 as Abby Walker ended the match with consecutive kills.

Notables- Avry Tatum led the Bearcats with a career high 22 kills, on a .269 clip.

Carly Glendinning recorded another double-double with 16 kills, 16 digs as she continues to make a run at AAC Freshman of the Year.

Abby Walker finished with 15 kills, while hitting .467 on the match, along with three blocks.

Emme Madden finished with a game high 48 assists.

Payton Frederick finished with a game high 21 digs as she continues to anchor the back line for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats (4-10) (2-2 AAC) will be back in action tomorrow at noon when they travel to Greenville, North Carolina to take on Eastern Carolina University (7-10) (2-3 AAC) as they look to finish the sweep on the road.
