WS: Paige Miller named AAC Offensive Player of the Week

Earlier this afternoon Bearcats sophomore forward Paige Miller was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week after a dominate week in conference play where she led the Bearcats with three goals in the teams two matches versus Tulsa and Temple.

Miller is now tied for the team lead with four goals after scoring a brace yesterday in the teams 3-1 victory over Temple and has started to be a huge force for the Bearcats soccer program as they kick off conference play. Miller scored a huge goal to tie the match versus Tulsa last Thursday as the Bearcats ended in a 2-2 draw.

Miller helped propel the Bearcats to a 3-1 victory over Temple where she recorded her first career brace. Miller got the scoring started for the Bearcats after laying out for an incredible diving header off the pass from Vyviene Spaulding that Coach Neil Stafford would later call the goal of the year. Miller would then close the door on the match after finding the back of the net late in the match as she snuck one by Kyla Burns in the 88th minute to give the Bearcats a 3-1 lead as they secured their first conference win of the season.

I think that goal has to be up for goal of the year, that first goal. That is what Paige does, she puts herself in dangerous situations, her starting position from that cross was exceptional, she was high on the shoulders of the defender, she’s very quick with her movement. That was early dynamic movement and then lays herself out for an incredible diving header, I think that has to go on ESPN at some point. I am happy for Paige, she has been a credit the way she has grinded out, she didn’t have all the playing time in the world at the beginning but she’s stayed patient. It is really good to see Paige buzzing,” said Bearcats head coach Neil Stafford following the teams 3-1 victory over Temple.

The Bearcats will be back in action when they travel to Orlando this Thursday to take on UCF in a match that was originally postponed due to hurricane Ian. Kickoff is slated for 6 pm.
