Earlier this afternoon Bearcats freshman right side hitter Avry Tatum was tabbed to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after coming off a weekend where she rallied a team high 40 kills in the teams matches versus Temple and ECU where the Bearcats went 1-1 on the weekend.
Tatum recorded a career high 22 kills on a .269% clip in the Bearcats three set to two victory over Temple on Friday as she continues to be a bright spot for the Bearcats as the freshman has made an immediate impact since arriving on campus this summer.
Tatum followed up her career high Sunday where she would record her first career double-double as she led the Bearcats with a team high 18 kills along with 14 digs. Tatum finished the match hitting .289% in the Bearcats five set loss to Eastern Carolina. However, Tatum is coming off a weekend where she averaged 4.40 points, four kills, two digs per set over the weekend where the Bearcats went 1-1 as they look to make a late push as conference play kicks off.
This is the first time of Tatum’s young career that she was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll, but I am sure there will be plenty of more to come as the 6-foot-1 right side hitter has really settled in as she has recorded ten or more kills in the last four matches for the Bearcats as she has started to develop a great relationship with setters Emme Madden and Caroline Endres.
The Bearcats will be back in action this Friday for their annual pink out game as they welcome in the Wichita State Shockers to Fifth Third Arena as first serve is set for 6 pm.
