The Cincinnati football team improved to No. 20 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll that was released on Sunday.
The Bearcats are ranked for the fourth consecutive week in the Top 25 and the No. 20 position is UC’s highest placement this season.
UC has now been ranked by the AP in 48 of the last 52 weeks, dating back to 2019.
Additionally, the Bearcats are ranked No. 19 for the second consecutive week in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
Cincinnati (6-1) is winners of six straight.
In their last game, the Bearcats used special teams to defeat SMU, 29-27, on Saturday in Dallas. Sophomore punter Mason Fletcher had a school- and AAC-record 84-yard punt against the Mustangs and finished with a 65.0 average on three punts – also conference and school records. Senior kicker also drilled a school record five field goals, including a season-long 52-yarder, while running back Charles McClelland rushed for 129 yards and had a 76-yard touchdown.
Cincinnati returns to action on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (ESPN) against UCF in Orlando. Cincinnati will look to break the league record for consecutive AAC wins (19) against the Knights.
