University of Cincinnati Director of Athletics John Cunningham announced on Monday a change in women’s soccer leadership. Neil Stafford will not return as head coach.
A national search for the next Cincinnati women’s soccer coach will begin immediately.
“I want to thank Neil for his service to our student-athletes and the university during the last 10 years,” Cunningham said. “I have decided that a change in leadership for our women’s soccer program is necessary. Neil built a solid foundation, and we will look for our next head coach to elevate the program to the next level as we move into the Big 12 this summer. We want to compete for championships in our new league and finding the right fit to lead our women’s soccer program will be a top priority.”
Stafford had one year remaining on his contract. He finished with a record of 86-79-32 over 10 years with the Bearcats. He led Cincinnati to the AAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015.
