Bearcats come in at No. 21 in AP and Coaches Polls

Per GoBearcats:

The Cincinnati football team landed at No. 21 in both the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches Top 25 Polls on Sunday.

UC moved up one spot in the AP poll and stayed put in the Coaches rankings following Saturday’s 23-3 victory at Temple in which the defense held the Owls to just 202 total yards of offense and forced four turnovers.

Cincinnati is ranked for the seventh time in the AP poll this fall and for the sixth time by the coaches this season.

The Bearcats were also slotted at No. 25 in the College Football Playoff rankings last Tuesday – a ranking that will likely improve this week, as well.

Cincinnati returns to action on Friday at 12 p.m. ET (ABC) when it hosts No. 19/20 Tulane at Nippert Stadium in a Top 25 “Black Friday” matchup with conference championship implications.

The Bearcats and Green Wave are tied for first in the AAC with 6-1 records. The winner of Friday’s game will host the AAC Championship Game on Dec. 3.

A win by the Bearcats vaults them into the AAC title game for the fourth consecutive season and makes UC the conference championship host for the third straight year.

Cincinnati is the two-time defending AAC Champions.

The Bearcats have completed the last four seasons in the final AP Top 25, finishing:

  • No. 24 in 2018
  • No. 21 in 2019
  • No. 8 in 2020
  • No. 4 in 2021
