The Bearcats woman’s basketball team has endured a lot over the last few weeks after a coaching change where Katrina Merriweather steps in and replaces former Bearcats head coach Michelle Clark-Heard. Heard, had been the Bearcats head coach for the last five seasons and was the lead recruiter for Dais’ja Trotter last offseason. However, sources told The Front Office News that Trotter is indeed in the transfer portal after spending just one season at Cincinnati. Trotter, known for her three-point shooting, appeared in 23 games for the Bearcats last season, averaging just 3 points and nearly 2 rebounds per game.
Trotter started her collegiate career at Rend Lake junior college, where she was one of the top JUCO transfers on the market before deciding on Cincinnati. However, with a new coaching change Trotter has elected to hit the transfer portal sources tell us. Trotter was a huge addition heading into the 2022 season for Coach Heard and the Bearcats, but ultimately just wasn’t able to find her footing during the 2022-2023 season. However, Trotter still has one year of eligibility left and will look to pursue her options elsewhere it seems.
TFON wishes nothing but the best to Dais’ja Trotter as she looks to find her next home in her playing career.
